The ENA - IIAP Merger

The ENA - IIAP Merger
Over 12,000 foreign visitors have participated in various training programs at the Ecole nationale d’administration (approximately 2,000) and the Institut international d’administration publique (approximately 10,000) since these two institutions first opened, in 1946 and 1966 respectively; The merger between the two should be completed by 2002.
The new institution will be called the Ecole nationale d’administration, and will not only, as was the case previously, provide initial training to future high-ranking French civil servants, but will also take on a new role, namely that of providing ongoing training in connection with research on government service matters and international administrative cooperation. In this framework, a new set of training programs is going to be developed for foreign visitors. The new programs will focus on the far-reaching changes underway in most government services as a consequence both of the redefinition of the State’s remit in the wake of trade globalization and regional integration, and the increasing use of modern information and communications technology.
